Questions before you begin
What should I include in a decorating enquiry?
Send the full postcode, the rooms or surfaces involved and a short description of their condition. Photographs, colour ideas and any access restrictions are useful.
How is the quotation put together?
The proposed scope should identify preparation, materials, surfaces, access and exclusions. Any assumptions or work needing further assessment should be stated.
Can the property remain occupied?
Explain which rooms need to stay in use. Access, protection, ventilation and the sequence of work need to be discussed before arrangements are agreed.
What about period features or a listed building?
Share relevant building information and photographs of retained details. Check the proposed work with the local planning authority where permissions or constraints are unclear.
How are colours and finishes selected?
Use the product reference, sheen and a sample viewed in the room. Discuss the substrate and intended use as well as the colour.
