Painting & decorating

Our approach

A considered finish begins with a clear brief. Preparation, materials, access and the sequence of work should be resolved before decoration starts.

Understand the property

Tell us which rooms or elevations need attention and what has prompted the work. Photographs, known defects and details of existing coatings make the initial conversation more useful.

For period rooms, identify the features to retain. For flats and managed buildings, include any access rules or instructions from the person responsible for the property.

Agree what is included

A useful quotation separates preparation, repairs, materials, decoration and access. It should identify the surfaces involved, the proposed finish and any exclusions or assumptions.

If the condition or brief changes, discuss the effect on scope, cost and programme before additional work goes ahead.

Plan protection and movement

List furniture, fittings and objects that need to be moved, covered or left accessible. Explain any fragile finishes, recently installed flooring or items needing specialist handling.

Agree who is responsible for moving each item and where it will be kept. A clear route through the property helps establish the working area.

Work through the details

  • Protection for floors, furniture, fittings and shared areas.
  • Preparation appropriate to the surface and existing coating.
  • Agreed colour samples and finish references.
  • A practical sequence for access, drying and room use.

Inspect and retain the finish information

Plan a final review against the agreed scope. Keep a record of colours and products, together with the manufacturer’s care instructions and any points requiring follow-up.

Aftercare is specific to the finish. Ask about cleaning, curing and touch-up requirements before normal use resumes.

Your next step

Tell us what needs decorating.

Share the rooms, surface condition and full postcode. Photographs and a short description help us understand the work before discussing a quotation.
